An Casteal and Ben Chabair

In my quest to complete the Munros the Glenfalloch three have somehow been left til near last. A few years ago I would have romped round all three in day - alas not now. Reading all the stories about the bogs on the West side, I attempted Ben Chabhair from Inverlocharig a couple of weeks back, but decided it was too long and settled for Beinn a Chroin instead.
Today, weather was perfect - warm and dry with a chilly breeze. Followed the standard route up Twistin hill to reach An Casteil in 2hr 30min. Descended the first step to Bealach Buidhe and then peeled right down grassy slopes to the depressingly low col (615m) below Ben Chabair. Nothing for it but a steep but easy grind following some diagonal ramps R to relieve the boredom. Reached in top in 4hr 40min and descended back to the col.
A long boggy walk back now, and I slowed down significantly . I crossed the fence by a gap by the allt Andoran and headed down thatr stream to join the W Highland Way. Crossed the Falloch without difficulty and followed track and road back to my car. Ben Chabair definitely not my favourite, but only 5 to go now!

Sgurr a Mhaoraich near Tomdoun. I have Ben Avon ,Sgurr Mor (loch Quoich) and two in the Fisherfield to do. All probably two day walks)

Yes i'd like to, but I spend the Summer June - September in the Swiss Alps, so the aim will be to complete all but the last in 2014 and have the party in 2015.

Interesting route around Chabhair you took there, and quite a direct route off An Caisteal, didn't realise that was do-able

It's quite steep around there, but almost all grassy: the few rock outcrops are eaily avoidable. As regards my route up and down Ben Chabair, I have a slight problem with my right achilles tendon, and on steep slopes I find it much easier traversing with the right foot below the left
