Starav was meant to be our target for this weekend but the weather put that on the backburner so it east we go for plan b Lochnagar . Just me kev and the dug for this one ( Charlie grounded Pigeon already done)
Booted and suited 8am off we go a wee breeze cloudy but warm and dry perfect got as far as the Khazi for Kevs first stop of the day where we met Brian from Inverkeithing who was to join us for the rest of the day . The walk was quite easy with the good weather and an excellant path to follow so a cursory glance at the map was all that was needed . Looked at the corbett naw who do you think I am Gav may be next time combine it with the Braemar one. a quick photo shoot at the cliffs then on to the cairn time 1030am .
Once you have gained the height the rest of this walk was a stroll ( never thought I would say that ) Got to CCB just after 11am never stayed long Kev thought it didnt deserve a photo so then we trudged our merryway onto CSM jackets on wind starting to bite . At the cross roads of the track at the base of CSM we dumped our packs and walked up to the cairn at mid day made our way down to the junction and had a bite to eat glad I took extra water for Jake its pretty dry up there
Break over the slog began for the last two just over half way it got a little bit more interesting a few ups and downs Bannoch than Broad done just after 2pm a wee break to recover . Picked out the forest where the car park is which immediatly sapped the strength kept to the high road and trudged back to the carpark at times it felt like the retreat from Moscow arrived back at 430pm well pechted but I had a few cold brews in the car which went down a treat Jake knackered went straight to the back seat no more playing around . Then the two and a half hour journey back A good day but tiring day was had by all thanks for joining us Brian ( note to Pigeon we might have a new member to our motely crew)

Many congrats Ian, think you & I are in the same boat (not literally), in that we now have to travel for a couple of hours plus before we even start walking
The photo's look just like I remember it, may even pop back up that way

Ian, a good day, first time I've seen Jake crash out at the end of a walk other than the South Glen Shiel ridge.
Glad to be at your 150, even happier to drink your beer

Well done on the big 150!

When I did these a month ago, that burn at the bottom of CSM was nearly covered over with snow... there is apparently an auld wife's tale that if the snow ever completely melts of CCB, then the world will end or something nasty like that....Personally think they were just trying to generate some interest in a crap hill!! (also trying to work out where the beautiful corrie is that CCB is named after?)
