Please note: This description is different (and more recent) from the one described on Walk HIghlands directions from same car park.

The walk begins from the car park adjacent to St Paul's Church in Kinlochleven; it is signed 'Grey Mare's Tail' from the main road (it is no longer possible to start from the former Mamore Lodge Hotel). From the Kinlochleven car park follow the path from the edge of the car park into the woods; it is signed for 'Spean Bridge' and 'Corrour Station'. You immediately hit a T-junction, turn left and follow the path until you come to another junction signposted Grey Mare's Tail and Loch Eilde Path. Take the Loch Eilde Path passing a picnic bench and table, ignore faint path to the right, continue for about 100 yards until you come to a fork in the path. Take the lower path to the left that crosses a stream and you are then on the uphill path that cuts through the woods - there are several offshoots to this path that meander around and join the main path again as you move upwards through the woods. You are now on the main path that leads to the Eastern Mamores.
