Hitting half way mark in the deep South

Monday found me in MacFarlane country , an old tribe going back to Gilchrist who was the youngest son of Alwyn, the Celtic Earl of Lennox. He settled on the shores of Loch Long at Arrochar at the end of the 12th century and his grandson Malduin assisted Robert the Bruce when he was evading pursuit in that area and later fought at the Battle of Bannockburn. It was Malduin's son, Parlan (the Gaelic equivalent of Bartholomew), whose name began the Clann Macpharlain .

There is none of Malduin's folk left in An Socach now however the brits have a monsterous nuclear base just down the road. I believe the weapons there have the capacity to wipe out every single living organism within a 75 mile radius ,still we are "better together" ,especially when they want to store their WMD's on Scottish soil ! .

So Beinn Narnain and Beinn Ime it was to be and a fine day was in prospect as I left the car at 8am

I decided on the "slighe ceart" or right hand path that takes you up the spine of Beinn Narnain , could be a bog fest in Winter but fine today.

I fell in with a young lad Graham who was good cráic and we made our way up through the steep wee tórran a good wee hill this one ,plenty character .

Bha a' ceo air an Gleann fhathast agus bha e ro teth ...... plenty low mist in the glens and hellish hot however grand views all round

Bha sinn air a ' mhullach mu dheidhinn dha uair ............ On the summit in around 2 hours ,my halfway mark

One draw back were the "Meanbh Chuileagan" on the summit .... aye midges ! took a bite to eat then headed over to Beinn Ime ... a fair haul ! .

Soon on the summit where some lunch and a wee sleep in the sun was required !

After the wee refresh we set off to include Beinn Artair in the round it is a fascinating rock this one and a fair set of pitched stones up to the summit which had a large crowd of Canadian folk on it

So" bha sin e " .... the halfway house in the quest for all the Munro's and I have to say pleasantly surprised with the character of these hills they really are cracking mountains and not as busy as I feared.

We just need to move those damn war mongers at Faslane ,somewhere near waste minister will do

Hope you didn't get a nose bleed being down in the busy deep South Well done reaching the halfway mark on such a lovely day as well. There are more great walks down that way with the Corbetts and more so the Grahams a lot more quieter.

To be honest Johnny saw only two folk until i hit the bealach between narnain & ime ,where i passed maybe 6 .......then I hit the cobbler

Aye the Corbetts and Grahams over the other side of Loch Long looked grand ,will visit there sometime
