Hello from down south..

Postby devondebs » Thu Jul 18, 2013 5:30 pm

Hi everyone,

I'm new to this site, but am hoping to link up with keen munroist during September. I'm slightly addicted to bagging munros but my few mountain walking friends either arent fit enough at the moment or arent as keen as me! So it would be great to find some soul mates I can join to do a few more this year.

Hope to hear from some of you.

Debbie

Thanks Gill, will have a more serious think about dates and get back to you.

I hope to come up to the Highlands for 2 weeks, it just depends whether its the first 2 weeks of September or the last...I plan to either camp ( depending on midgie numbers!) or stay at Youth Hostels. Will also have a more serious think about which areas, but I think I may aim for around Glencoe or Crianlarich, but hey ho I'm flexible really, so not stuck on areas!! So many to do and I miss them all.....I have lovely Dartmoor not too far away but its not quite the same!

the midgies shouldnt be too bad by then really, but bear in mind if you are camping in late september that it is around the equinox so you won't get much of an evening.

Yes, regards midges that was what I was hoping, and its a good point about the shortened days, so early September would be slightly better ( I've just checked the sunset times, so thanks for reminding me, there's about an hour difference between beginning and end of month).

I need to get my head down into maps/books and decide which areas offer the best choice for shorter rounds. From previous experience even though I love the Cairngorms they are a long walk just to get started, so thats why I was swaying towards Glencoe and Crianlarich ( but have bagged many there already).

Many thanks for your feedback.
