Braeriach, will there be a view or not at the summit?

The three of us started off from the Whitewell carpark at approx 0900hrs for this another AMC meet, the forecast was for some heavy showers, we were just hoping that the low cloud would burn off in time to give us some views on the summit. Our intended route was to walk up Gleann Eanaich to just above Loch Mhic Ghille-chaol then head on up the NW shoulder between Loch Coire an Lochain and the crags at Coire Bogha-cloiche

The carpark at Whitewell, with enough space for about three cars, walk back out the carpark five metres and there is a link path on your right which is signposted

Good track takes you up into Gleann Eanaich

Low cloud at present with a chance of burn off later, fingers crossed

A bridge with a maximum of three persons at a time signposted

A river crossing, we al made it over keeping our feet dry, too early in the day to get wet feet

Heading on up the NW shoulder, deep heather with some quite wet sections

I guess it's this way!, still no sign of the path that should be here somewhere

Finally we come across the path which will take us up to the summit where the gradient lessens, we come upon the 1235m top shown on the OS map then head on East

The clag is dropping not rising unfortunately, well map and compass from now on!

We reach the summit cairn, ta to the guy who took our group photograph. At the cairn at 1315hrs, half an hour break then it's a head on down the more popular ascent route. Quite a few folk at the summit after seeing hardly a sole up until that point

Fine example of a Scots Pine surviving even although it's been blown down in Rothiemurchus, we get back to the car at 1700hrs, no heavy rain but pity about the low cloud, which meant no views on the summit.

Hi there riverlodge, thanks for that, it was a wee bit different from the normal, and on a good clear day the views would have been wonderful the whole day.
