With only a halfish day available for a climb, Margaret and I opted to go back to Tinto Hill, Having checked my first blog on this in 2010,.,not a lots changed

Great path up the hill, bit muddy in places and loose scree, but a good cardio workout. As on our previous trip here, the views around the patchwork Lanarkshire landscape were lovely,,and the top of the hill, totally hidden in low cloud, again! Climbing up over Totherin Hill, the summit still shrouded, the scree becomes less and the path more bouldery but good going all the way.

Reached the top at 707 mtrs in around 1hr 40. there have been some wee shelters built on what seems to be an eternally windy summit, so we hunkered down for long enough to eat a sandwich then headed off.

windy windy windy

Not much in the way of pics today, just a reason to get out for a few hours and blow away the cobwebs. The path was busier on the way down, with late risers lol and visibility was back to normal after only 20-30mtrs.

Ended off with coffee and a bun ! Nice wee day oot!

Great to see the direction finder has been replaced. This is what it looked like when I was up there 3 years ago:-

As R L Stevenson writes: 'if aught amiss were said/Forgive it and dismiss it from your head'

I have fond memories of Tinto GillC - first climbing it with my son & friends children - now its with their grandchildren.

I also remember a fierce Ulsterwoman who used to own the cafe at the bottom of the hill (maybe still does), she made any unsuspecting walker that parked on her ground pay by buying at least a coffee from her cafe.
