So, with my walk up and over Morrone being such a short affair I decided I’d stop off for a quickie before returning to MrsR  Ben Gulabin :D There and back again in a few minutes over 2 hours :D Surely a contender for the easiest Corbett on the list  !!!!!!!

There’s not really much to say about the route really. Parking up near the start it’s a good hill track up to the saddle between Gulabin and Creagan Bheithe. From there it’s a case of leaving the good hill track for a shocking scar that heads pretty much directly up Gulabin. Everything that is abhorrent about many a more recent hill track

A few spits and spots on and around the summit, but the reward for such a quick trip is great views across to Carn a’Gheoidh and more particularly Carn Bhinnein (from this Corbett you can see why it was originally on the Munro list) as well as views on the way up toward the Devil’s Elbow :D

As suggested in the WH route description I took the chance to mosey along to the eastern summit and take in the views to Mount Blair and Glen Shee :D

Then it was a case of traipsing over the heather to pick up (eventually) the hideous scar and then pick up the track back to the car. Stopped off en-route to check out the remains of the “Gulabin hut” (part of an old ski development apparently). Turns out it’s just a pile of wood and twisted metal

So that was my long weekend in the hills. Might only have been two Munros and two Corbetts from my three days, but I was heading home a happy boy :D

We really enjoyed this wee hill peteR. We did this hill an a new years day I think several years ago.
We made a circular route out of it. We headed around a shallow corrie to the North? And finished on Ben Gulbain

For a longer day, a nice option is to start from Spittal, climb the SW ridge of Gulabin (quite steep but straightforward if you avoid the lowest section on the right), the head over to Carn a'Gheoidh and Carn Bhinnein and back down Glen Taitneach.
