We did Roan Fell first, starting from the entrance to Wislehope. We just followed the track from here passing by the farm, some noisy hounds and then a couple of stream crossing, both with bridges although one was a bit dodgy looking. On my map the track went as far as Hartsgarth Fell but upon reaching this point we came across two newer tracks. One headed west and the other south so we took the south one which soon led to the summit. We then continued to the trigpoint before returning to the car via the track, commenting on how hard this hill would have been without the track. We stopped for lunch on the way down and were back at the car 3 hrs after setting off. We then drove the short distance to walk Ellson Fell, parking just before a bridge. We walked over the bridge and climbed the ridge to the 494m point which is marked by a cairn. From here it's an easy walk to the summit but no summit cairn on Ellson Fell. We returned down in a south east direction down some uneven ground with the latter section quite boggy. The route up was far better terrain. 1hr 30 mins for this one.

You know you are scraping the barrel when you start climbing hills named after chemical toilets!
