Headed up to the Cairngorms as the forecasts suggested this may catch the best of the weather, which turned out to be true! Decided on the WH route up and round Sgor Gaoith, when I did this last time I was disappointed not to get a view from the summit so I was hoping for some views today
Left the car at 09.00 and headed up the excellent path through the Feshie forest onto the hill side. The weather wasn't looking great with cloud on the summits and a keen wind blowing.
Wasn't feeling too confident of getting a clear summit however forecast did suggest the weather to be at its best around midday. Head up the WH route in an anticlockwise direction and just as we reached the plateau the cloud lifted and the views across the Cairngorms were superb! Getting the summit clear did not disappoint, a cracking summit.
Headed down and decided on slight detour up Sgoran Dubh Mor, with the view back from here perhaps even better than on Sgor Gaoith!
Headed back down the ridge to the path to see numerous gliders up and about- something I wasn't expecting given the breezy conditions!
