Headed up to the Cairngorms as the forecasts suggested this may catch the best of the weather, which turned out to be true! Decided on the WH route up and round Sgor Gaoith, when I did this last time I was disappointed not to get a view from the summit so I was hoping for some views today :o

Left the car at 09.00 and headed up the excellent path through the Feshie forest onto the hill side. The weather wasn't looking great with cloud on the summits and a keen wind blowing.

Image

Wasn't feeling too confident of getting a clear summit however forecast did suggest the weather to be at its best around midday. Head up the WH route in an anticlockwise direction and just as we reached the plateau the cloud lifted and the views across the Cairngorms were superb! Getting the summit clear did not disappoint, a cracking summit.

Image

Headed down and decided on slight detour up Sgoran Dubh Mor, with the view back from here perhaps even better than on Sgor Gaoith! :D

Image

Headed back down the ridge to the path to see numerous gliders up and about- something I wasn't expecting given the breezy conditions!

Excellent stuff. Like the zoom out from the pines at the start and the first summit view. Looks a fantastic walk all round. One for us in the spring or summer maybe.

Thanks - it is a great walk.I had done it years ago (2006 I think) taking in the second munro and starting further down the road in Glen Feshie - but tis WH route is superb and fits a biggy Cairngrm peak into to a manageable winters outing :)

Did this walk in October under quite different conditions (no snow, claggy summit although the weather cleared on Sgoran Dubh Mor). Hoping to go up Mullach Clach a'Bhlair this weekend if I can spare the time. The forecast looks good for Saturday! :D

Brilliant video...was up there twice in a week last winter, and saw nothing both times. In fact the second time it was dark at the summit - will return and hope for a day like you had. A wonderful summit in the snow. Thanks for sharing

Agree with earlier comment pic 3 is a cracker, but I cant complain had sun shine with a beautiful view across to the main Cairngorms on my first visit, the second two not such views
