Was going to name this report "Tidying up my Fannich area"but that sounded just wrong so lonely in the Fannichs it is.Had 2 previous days on these hills, one terrific and one horrific,so it left me with 2 to tidy up the area, didn't fancy the boggy akward trudge from the Dirrie moor so remembering Dogplodders excellent report and more recently Malky's trip i settled on the long walk in from Grudie power station along the Fannich estate road.Had the trail shoes on for the walk in and the boots in the bag and made good time along the track, stopping eventually near the old quarry just below the 572m point on the map to change footwear. From here it was steeply up towards a wee lochan just below the 572m point.

Great views opening up to Torridon and the way i had walked in.Still blue skies over the top of An Coileachan at this point ,had a feeling this wouldn't last though so i got up as quickly as i could, the going mostly ok on firm snow.Just as i made the cairn though the cloud rolled in,also got pretty cold here so on with the big jacket and down to the Bealach Ban,from here it was an easy pull up to the 922 point then easily up to Meall Gorm.Got to Meall Gorm and wasn't entirely sure i was at the right top, continued on a bit but soon returned to the small frozen lump that i took to be the cairn, gps confirmed it was but still took to hacking lumps of ice from it just to make sure  It was getting a bit windy now so no hanging around,re traced my steps a bit a swung round to pick up the where the path should be,still on firm good ground, had a break behind a big rock near the 599m top of Creag a Choire Riabhaich. Then down again now to behind Fannich Lodge, bit boggy here but was soon back on the estate track, changed from boots to shoes again near the quarry then it was hood up head down for the walk out, raining all the way back to the car :( A good day, shame the weather closed in a bit but it was always a gamble with the forecast, good to get the Fannichs complete though and the first new Munro's of the year on the board

First things first pigeon.........some super photos :D The shots of Torridon are stunning 8) Looks like you had a great day :D

Hopefully though you can tell me that the views toward the Deargs group looked awful. I'd had plans to be up there this weekend, but MrsR took unwell, so I had to "do the right thing" and done my nurses uniform  And then your photos show Saturday looking superb

Could've done with a couple of those views last time I was up there :) . Looks good, and you did it all on foot as well, probably making it quite a long day out (must be at least 10 miles of walking on tarmac).

A bit of a cracker there, pigeon - looked a lot nicer than in the forecast  Can remember looking at this way as an approach when planning the Fannichs but ended up going form the north - think if I do get back to them, would like to go from this side instead (though not being a puritan would probably consider taking a bike  ) - cheers :)

Don't really mind the long walk ins malky, needed the trail shoes though, that walk in the big winter boots may have done me in

Some great pics there which brought back good memories - if a bit poignant because I did it with Kath. The route may be long but we liked it!
