Last day of my week off hah (superbowl , MOT, and laminate flooring from december) We were meant to do this last weekend but the weather was cr*p. With the cpc tomorrow today was the day.
Late start 0820 just me and jake sun shining mwis and the bbc might be correct . Was going to do this as WH untill the sma hydro dams at the track end . Icrossed the stream and headed up the hill to the beallach in between An Dunan and Creagan an Lochan up over Creagan then onto Domhnuill snow pretty deep in places and soft which made it hard going at times , glancing north the cloud was getting black the wind picked up no time to check the lochan out onwards.
Once on top of Beinn D a direct route was chosen over the snow fields covering the hags mistake should have kept to the high ground a few times well over the knees a few stream crossings . Point to note if you are with a dog dont follow him over snow bridges a 3 stone dog nae probs a 15st adult wet feet and the snow above your head ( Not coming back this way). Once I got out of that predicament made harder with jake thinking I was playing dry socks then I put the crampons on . Yes pidg I got a pair at last . which made the north top of Meall a dawdle to get up once on the summit hoping the cairn was there no such luck it was on the other hill another 20min at the pile of stones windy blowing snow about a quick photo 1130am time to head back.
This time I took a beeline fom Fearna to the fence line in the distance heading in between the north top and the 638m once at the bealach and a few bum slides got to the faint atv track and down to the dams where we stopped for a brew and a bite to eat fleece off then back to the car still sunny got back at 1350 hrs a bottle of red labeled amber nectar then home . A grand day.

A couple of nice photies there Ian, you got the weather a lot better than I did on boxing day  we had the same issues with the soft and at times crusty snow which was hard work. I was looking up at those very hills today while at work and wished I was there :( Colin

We had similar experience on Ben Ime today. It's utterly exhausting having to haul yourself out every couple of steps when what seems like hard snow suddenly swallows your leg whole when you put your foot down!
