Lawers lunch

Took Helen and Paul up here as they had never been this way before. The walking was good, getting a little tricky at the top of Lawers by all the hard packed snow caused by many feet going before us. I had spikes, but they did not. We managed it with care though. We had lunch at the top behind the trig point rocks for shelter. A couple of guys walked up from the south side with snow boards and after checking out the snow and getting ready duly disappeared down the big snow bank on the east side of Lawers. We were impressed by the (barely) hanging cornice on the north side of Beinn Ghlas which looked likely to avalanche at the slightest excuse. Lots of people walked back down the bealach over big banks of snow back to the car park, but we just went back the way we came. So three munros in a day

I'm doing this in two days from the other direction. Did you include An Stuc? How was the snow conditions at Cat Gully?

I like your photographs, they've really captured the ambience of the day. I was on Meall Corranaich today and could see a few people on the way up Ghlas ... it might have been yourselves

My views across to Ghlas and Lawers were great today, so its good to see it from the other side in your pics.
