After much anticipation and thanks to Tom’s organisation back at the start of the year, it was finally time for our 4 day trip to Skye. I would highly recommend Skye guides for anyone who wants to do the Cuillins – our guide Gillian was fantastic and it’s very impressive how well the guides know the routes.
Despite the mist and showers on the first 3 days we all had a brilliant time, particularly since we kicked things off with the Inaccessible Pinnacle on Wednesday

The scrambling and climbing was great fun and I really felt that I learn a lot in the short time we were there. Thursday’s route included Sgurr nan Eag, Sgurr Dubh Mor, Sgurr Alasdair and Sgurr Mhic Choinnich and this was an excellent birthday treat for me!
All too soon, our last day came round and we set off for the 3 Northerly Cuillins from the Sligachan hotel. The walk up to the ridge was brilliant with great views all around and Pinnacle ridge looked awesome.

As we reached the ridge the views opened up – it was absolutely stunning and it was great to finally get a clear summit.
After some fun/exposed scrambling we reached the summit of Sgurr nan Gillean.

On the way down we did the first of 3 abseils for the day.
The rain started to come on at about Am Basteir but we managed to make it up the Basteir tooth before it became too slippy and then went through the tunnel for our last abseil down King’s chimney.
Shortly afterwards we made it to our final summit on the main Cuillin ridge at Bruach na Frithe.

On the way down the rain started bucketing down, the heaviest it was all week but nothing could dampen our spirits after an amazing few days in the Cuillins!
Back down to the hotel and time for some celebratory food and drinks to round of an incredible 4 days – can’t wait to go back!
