Ben Chonzie Revisited

A return visit, this was. We had turned back 2/3rds of the way up in March when strong winds, iffy visability, spindrift and winter inexperience forced a retreat. So we decided to give it another go in the morning before we headed off home in the afternoon.
The weather was fantastic first thing so we got ourselves packed up, car loaded and were off from the Travelodge in good time. Arrived in the Glen Lednock car park about 3/4 hr later and were walking soon after. The sunshine is what you dream of, the silence was broken only by the birds, bleating sheep and the water in the Burns tumbling over the rocks.

Fantastic start, this is rare for us.

We set off on the good track, through the gate and started the steady walk up towards Ben Chonzie.

Over to Ben More

A good way up the track and not too far off it's termination at the Bealach a path starts heading uphill at an angle to the left and is well worn, this takes you up to the fence posts which then guide you easily over firm ground all the way to the summit.

There is a sharp right hand change in direction of the fence posts about 300m from the summit, but in good visability there is a path that cuts this corner off.
There are really good views from the summit over to Ben Vorlich, Ben More, Glen Coe and towards the Cairngorms.

Onto Meall na Seide

After spending some time on the summit enjoying the still air and the warmth and having a couple of cereal bars for breccy we set off down retracing our steps all the way back to the car park.

This is another quick mountain to do when you have an afternoon spare, but it is worth spending time over it and enjoying the sence of space it offers.

Hi Rod, I did wonder what those hills were, if you look at them long enough they look like a mirror image. Torridon later this month, hoping for similar weather.

Hi Martin, you have got a pretty decent Zoom on your camera, I look forward to seeing your Torridon photographs, all wonderful hills with fantastic views all around, good luck with the weather, I just wish I was coming along!
