We spent a week at the end of May enjoying Skye while based in Staffin. As the Quiraing was just 10 minutes from our holiday home AND I could see it from the window, I was up every day before sunrise to check the sky to see if it was worth an early start to enjoy a sunrise at the Quiraing. The only lengthy walk we did was Ben Tianavaig otherwise we were out exploring areas of Skye with short walks. We made a couple trips to An Arid, Braes; one was done in a rain storm while the other was a sunny day, what a difference the weather made. We even managed to spend a day on the Sleat peninsula that we had not previously visited. We travelled the Broadford-Elgol road with visits to Elgol and the Torrin area.

Rather than write multiple reports for our short walks and Ben Tianavaig, which has already been well reported, I have posted a few images of our time on Skye. I hope you enjoy them. . .

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Spectacular photos of a stunning Island, particularly like the Trotternish Ridge and Falls ones.

Best collection of photos I've seen on this site.

What a wonderful trip :)

I've also been based in Staffin whilst enjoying Skye, and also tended to do some of the shorter walks. There is so much to see and do on the Island. So, did you also do the Skye Half Marathon  ?

Dooterbang, thank you for the very generous comments. I am glad you enjoyed the photographs. Fortunately I missed the Half Marathon, although I would have been a willing spectator.

Incredible photos. May I ask, what type of camera did you use?

Ace photos :D
There are so many charming spots on Skye, where few people venture. Most of us, hill baggers, just run to the Cuillin and maybe Trotternish ridge, but the island has much more to offer.

An Aird is a great place to spot seals :D

jimandandrea, Thank you for your appreciating them and your comments.

Acually, I am getting closer to 'retirement' and have been considering giving up the 'day job' to spend more time with my photography and travel. But I have already been told I CANNOT retire to Scotland :( So more Scottish holidays are apparently in my future then.

Amazing photos - love the reflections especially.

As for retirement - well, you could always work for the Skye Tourist Board on their publicity!

Thank you for your comments. I've been hoping for calm periods to get some reflection photos, instead I've usually gotten a good breeze, but that does help keep them midges away. This time at Cleat there was a slight breeze while I waited for the sunrise light. When the sunrise came fortunately the winds calmed down for just 5 to 10 minutes so I could take some photos, while also now being swarmed by the midges.
