Me and my bud headed up Lochnagar on a warm braw evening with a plan to camp out somewhere wherever the night took us. It was the back of 5 before we were geared up with a quick stop in Ballater for a cheeky wee chippy. The sun was a warm 26 degrees as we started the ascent.

At this point we decided about pitching our tent but it was still such a nice night we continued on across the plateau. The light was fading so got the head torches on, brought out the compass to practice abit of night nav to get to the summit of Carn a'Choire Bhoidheach.

Hit the summit in darkness and then took a bearing W to meet the path. We both started to feel tired as it hit midnight so found a flattish bit of ground at the foot of Carn an t-Sagairt Beag, set up the tent and cracked open a cheeky can and the whiskey.

Woke up during the night pretty chilly. I only took my sleeping bag liner as I thought I would be too warm. A note for the future not at 900 metres up. Packed up with just a cereal bar for breakfast. Another lesson for the future, don't carry up a stove and gas if there is a possibility they won't get used. We then set off for the short distance to the summit of Carn an t-Sagairt Beag.

We both felt pretty fatigued with the descent down to Loch Muick. Felt like forever before we finally arrived back at the car park. Headed to Braemar, stayed in a bunkhouse and then got jaked as our reward for a great couple of days.
