An easy start to the week with a chance to grab some lower fells and suss out the groups abilities.
We parked at Maggie's Bridge, Loweswater and headed off around a circuit of Burnbank Fell, Blake Fell. Gavel Fell and Hen Comb. Mostly grassly lumps, so not that much to report. Apart from Fences - we found two points were we needed to hop over the fences, not stile in sight. Burnbank and Blake Fell summits are covered by the same run of fence - but on opposite sides, with a noticeable path on both sides, but no stiles. We crossed midway between the two where the other path began to look more trodden than the one were on. Also near the bottom of the Hen Comb descent we needed to hop over a (collapsed) bit of fence before the wall marking the end of open fell to branch right (as we headed below Melbreak).
Made a minor mistake at the sharp left turn after descending Gavel Fell - followed the fence line towards Hen Comb (as others have - so easy to be dawn into their footsteps) but quickly realised this was running parallel to the path we wanted to be on, rather than cutting across towards it (you should head ESE at this point, not ENE).
On top of Hen Comb we met a couple from Devon who were in the process of finishing off their last few Wainwrights, we had a GP from Devon in our group, turned out they were registered at her surgery!
