Ben Chonzie, the forth time and not my last.

This was to be my fourth visit to Ben Chonzie, my second during the Summer. The Grandson was up visiting from Nottingham and was wanting to add to his Munro tally, so as I hadn't been up the hills for about six weeks I decided that this one fitted the bill quite nicely as the journey from Carnoustie was not going to take too long, as with most teenagers getting up early is not really his scene. Drove through Crieff ,Comrie then up Glen Lednock to the starting point and large car park, which was well full and overflowing, looks like there were many like minded folk. Dry and sunny with little or no wind to speak of meant that the midges were going to get you if you stood still for long, so nothing else for it but to push on and not hang about.

This walk has already been well documented so will post a few photographs of the day. After passing the houses on their right a good track takes you more than half way up the hill

Looking NW towards Loch Tay (hidden) and Schiehallion. Some wonderful views from the summit especially when there is some snow on the hills. A munro where only in the most difficult conditions would pose a problem re navigation and under normal conditions should be a piece of cake for those wishing to climb a munro for the first time.

That's a really nice report, great to see the walking bug being passed on to younger people! Ben Chonzie was my first solo, a hill I'm fond of now.

Thanks there chickadee, I'm supposed to be back up there with my niece sometime this week, hope the weather improves, but it's a nice hill and it gives me a day out, better not put another trip report on WH

Nice one Rod - you're one ahead of me for this hill (twice from Glen Lednock and once from Loch Turret).

Always enjoy looking at reports for this hill/area, my grandparents lived in Comrie and as a teenager I spent a lot of time walking our collie on the hills on both sides of the glen and up past Loch Lednock.

Yes we all had fun thanks, as of yet not done the Glen Turret approach although earlier this year did Auchnafree from the dam, nice walk. Maybe the complete circuit after a dry spell in the Summer around Loch Turret, awaits, time will tell

At least now I know what this hill looks like, I did it in winter with clag!

Hi Fergie, ta for that. He will soon be taller than me! Unfortunately not now making Bunroy this weekend.
