Parked just off the A708 and walked up the road and track to Dryhope. We continued up the track and came across a herd of Cows, Calves and a Bull having a feed. The Bull was an old guy and the herd soon allowed us passed. We then came to a stream crossing where we had the option of walking the plank or crossing over rocks, we chose the rocks as the plank was slippy. Even if it wasn't slippy, we still wouldn't fancy it. Once over the stream we continued to the end of the track and onto a fainter track for a short period before continuing up the heathery slopes and onwards to the summit. WE returned around the east side of Layer Knowe and onto a track back to the car, again coming across the feeding cattle on our way back.
