WH SPRING Meet - Durness 10/11/12 April 2015

WH SPRING Meet - Durness 10/11/12 April 2015

Postby Fife Flyer » Mon Nov 10, 2014 7:37 pm

I thought I would break with tradition, rather than be nominated I decided to 'volunteer' to organise the Spring Meet :o

The plan is to head up north to Durness on Friday 10th April, in fact any further north & we would be in the Atlantic, returning south on Sunday 12th April.

For anyone who hasn't been to the far NW, this is a must. I appreciate that there aren't umpteen Munro's up that way, but there are some fantastic 'smaller' hills, especially a couple of cracking Corbetts, the Cape Wrath Trail and some stunning beaches that will be deserted.

The accommodation will be in the Lazy Crofter Bunkhouse which has a capacity of 20 and as usual it will be first come first served. Here is the link http://www.visitdurness.com/lazy-crofter-bunkhouse/
WH does have a link to the bunkhouse in the Accommodation toolbar

The cost is £18.00 per person per night. Priority will be given to those staying the 2 nights, makes sorting out finances and beds easier.
The bunkhouse has 4 rooms: 2 rooms with 8 beds and 2 rooms with 2 beds.

Please PM me for payment details, all bookings are non refundable so if you can't make the Meet it is your responsibility to find a replacement.

There is a campsite nearby Sango Sands, here is the link http://www.sangosands.com/ Sango Sands also has a bar & restaurant, where I will be eating
I should mention, it is up to individuals to contact Sango Sands

Being so far north public transport is very limited, anyone without a car would be advised to arrange to share a lift.
Once the numbers have been finalised it would make sense to try and share cars, as we will all be coming from the south  I will start a new thread in the New Year so we can sort out car sharing 8)

Bedding is provided, bring your own towels

You can either post or send me a PM

Important footnote: Anyone fancy volunteering for the vital role of Quizmaster, as Graeme has a better offer elsewhere  Vacancy has been kindly filled by Dougie

Rooms will be allocated once we have reached the maximum 20

I'm not meant to say this .........but take your golf clubs....

There's a 9 hole golf course at Durness and it's immense fun!

If I remember, the sand dunes are unique. Worth an inspection
