13th. August, 1982:
This was the fifth day out from Lochluichart on a three week trek with my brother, Nick, and - having gone round the Fannichs and over Fionn Bheinn north of Achnasheen and had some terrible weather - we had reached Gleann Fhiodhaig the previous day and camped by the River Meig. Our plans had been for an epic circuit, taking in Munros to the north and south of the glen but Nick's heels were giving trouble and, in the end, we settled for those to the north. In those days, there were two of them and I still count them as my 48th. and 49th. Munros!

We left reasonably early and delighted in moving without our heavy sacks for the first time on this trip - and the walk up Gleann Fhiodhaig was both attractive and easy in bright weather. We used a well graded stalkers' path for the pull up onto Moruisg and, once on the grassy ridges, the going was also quick and easy with good views to the north and west.

From the top of Sgurr nan Ceannaichean it was a simple descent back down to the track to the west of Glenuaig Lodge and, from there, a pleasant if lengthy wander back along the Meig to an evening meal of dehydrated chicken supreme in what was now a dry tent.

Tomorrow we would be heading for the Munros north of Strathfarrar.
