With a good morning, but not so good afternoon forecast, i chose to visit Place Fell, as i hadn't been there since 2009. Roads were surprisingly clear and ice-free as i parked at Patterdale School, with the temp showing -5oC  Quickly kitted up and headed past Side Farm on the way up to Boredale Hause.

The views soon opened up in all directions with excellent clarity.

Boredale Hause was soon reached, though Place Fell was still mostly in the shade for now,

As was Angletarn Pikes.

St.Sunday and friends looked tempting :)

Over to the Far Eastern Fells looked almost monochrome in the shade

The Pennines with Cross Fell looked close because it was so clear, though the cloud would engulf their tops by dinner time!!

Approaching the summit of Place Fell, Skiddaw (just) and Blencathra came into view.

Having taken a snap or two :? i retraced my steps back to Boredale to ascend Angletarn Pikes.

With bright sunlight keeping me warm, it was a fairly easy plod across to the Pikes.

Angle Tarn from smaller Pike
As the tarn is only visible from the smaller Pike, i went there first before nipping onto the 567m Pike before making my way back to the car.

As predicted, the cloud was building up strongly from the N & E, so i was happy i only did a morning walk

Nice little walk in great conditions. I know what you mean about the scenery looking monochrome this time of year, I was thinking that about the pics on my last report. How long will the snow last ?

Nice pic of Middle Dodd behind Brothers Water :)

Great views from those two hills, mamoset. The Far Eastern Fells are a nice place to be on a clear day during a snowy winter.
