WH SUMMER MEET 7/8/9th Aug. Aultguish Bunkhouse, Garve

Re: Summer meet 7/8/9 Aug. Aultguish Bunkhouse, Garve

Postby kaiserstein » Wed Apr 15, 2015 1:06 pm

Hi Charlie

I'll be there. Any private rooms left? PM me with cost if so, otherwise I will go for bunks. By that I mean 1 bed in bunks for Fri & Sat. Don't think I can convince Lydia to come otherwise

Cheers
Dave

I've updated the first page to show who's booked.

Still a triple room available.

I would consider coming but I rely on public transport, are there any train stations or bus stops near the location?

Andrew,
You're in luck. Bus 56 Inverness to Ullapool will stop at Aultguish Inn. There is a chance you could get a lift from someone nearby. Walkhighlanders are very accomodating. I'm sure notices will come out nearer the time.
Be quick as probably only 1 bunk left.

I guess you were in the wrong seat at the wrong time Charlie!

Anyway, this is good news to return home to. I was gutted to miss the Durness meet (although I managed to get over it as I winged my way to sunny Lanzarote) but would hate to miss two in a row. One is unfortunate, two in a row would be downright careless! That said however, I cannot make any definite commitments about anything over the next few months for reasons I will not go into here, but in theory the dates suit me just fine. I think though I will just take care of my own accommodation (either kipping in the car or wild camping nearby). To be honest, after my visit there last summer, the Aultguish is not top of my list of preferred places so I'll be buggered if I'm paying them £5 to camp. I will however put my principles aside and but ale from them!

That would be great Mickey. Look forward to meeting you and Cluanie there. Always good to see dogs out on the hills. Sadly mine has had to retire now. :(

Unfortunately scotjamie has pulled out due to family commitments.
A small double room is now available for both nights.

Also backpacker and Leia have pulled out so there's an extra 2 bunks available.

Anyone planning on camping at the Inn is on the condition the bunkhouse has sold out.

Stuart , it was good meeting up with you again at the Marine bar. It shows that by going to these meets you can meet other Walkhighlanders far and wide..
Hopefully we'll see you there.

Maybe anyone who is coming can drum up some extra bodies for the meet.
