Tyndrum is a fantastic base for the hills, a Great Campsite run by the helpful Cameron and Cathy with a well stocked shop, The Good Food Place the ex Little Chef, The Green Wellie shop and of course the Tyndrum Inn. Today Saturday was to be the final days walking as the weather forecast for the evening and Sunday was pretty awful with continuous rain and increased winds. One of our best decisions of the whole weekend was to swap the Friday nights tents for a four man Camping Pod only three pounds more the tents. The five of us headed off to our parking area on the A82 on the left and before you reach the farm track to Auch where they don't like you to block off the turning area at the road junction, there was already two cars parked on the roadside when we arrived

Heading down the farm road to Auch
2.JPG
Heading towards the viaduct after passing the farm buildings on the right and crossing Allt Coralan which now has concrete railway sleepers to walk on so saves the boulder hopping the last time I was here, many many years ago
3.JPG
After crossing below the viaduct the track splits take the right fork to walk along the West side of the first Corbett. Track walking for a distance along Glen Coralan. On the other side of the glen there has been another track formed for the purpose of a micro Hydro Scheme, a lot of these are popping up these days, pity about the scars
4.JPG
Heavy rains and snow melt obviously caused this

A lochan with Loch Lyon in the distance from the South shoulder of Beinn a' Chaisteil
7.JPG
Time for a snack and a cuppa. At this point a distinct line of fence posts are there for you to follow to the summit on your right
8.JPG
Looking down the ridge
9.JPG
Looking back down the ridge further up nearer the summit, at this point the gradient drops considerably and is nearly a flat walk to the summit cairn

Group photo at summit cairn, approx 2 1/2 hours. Snow starting, time to follow the fence line off the summit NE towards the second Corbett
12.JPG
Heading off NE down to the bealach keeping the line of fence posts on our right
13.JPG
The snow only last about fifteen minutes and soon clears to enable us to see the our second Corbett in front of us.
14.JPG
After passing by a few peat hags we head to the prominent South shoulder which looks quite easy going and follow this to the summit cairn
15.JPG
We retraced our steps back to the bealach keeping above the peat hags and as we were now down to two members we just headed NW towards the Allt Kinglass steep in places but nothing difficult even the river crossing was easy aiming for a prominent stone on the South side. We then followed the river down Auch Gleann towards the viaduct and joined our walk in path at the viaduct back to the cars

That looks like a great round. The snow definitely adds to the atmosphere! 8)

Great report, and good to see what the hills in that area look like as we always just drive by Tyndrum, Bridge of Orchy etc.. and never think of trying any walks in the area.
