At last a good clear sunny day ! So me , Oskar my faithful hound & my pal Wullie were off to Ben Lomond. If the weather had been poor it was plan B .Luckily it was nice , arrived Rowardennan at 8.20am , 10 mins later we were off , up via the "tourist route" which was easy to follow - nice for a new comer like me.It was really sunny & warm going up , on arriving home i`d sunburn on my arms , a lesson to take cream in the future.
I enjoyed it very much , this was only my 4th hill / outing and the 1st one with fabulous all round clear visibilty. The views to me were tremendous from the summit , clearly making out Stirling Castle ,Dumyat ,Wallace Monument the Longannet Chimmney, Dumbarton Rock,Arran & Ailsa Craig too which surprised me !
The views to the mountains north / north west were awesome too.
We went down via Ptarmigan which i enjoyed , a wee bit different to going up , although i was glad we did this route anti clockwise, back to the car park and a cold shandy in The Clansman before heading home. Smashing .A great day out.
Next outing is Sun 16 / 5 venue tba. I`m looking forward to it.
