I must say that I was really looking forward to this long coastal walk from Berwick upon Tweed to Dunbar via the John Muir section at Cockburns Path.Starting the walk after a short 20mins train journey from Dunbar arriving at just after 06:40 I was dissapointed that the first section just after the golf course heading along the main east coast line was pretty much overgrown with grass pretty much up to my waist with hardly any signs of a recognised path. This went on for quite some way until I came to the scottish border gate. The walk after this was exceptional with some stunning views, cliffs and harbours.Once entering the last stretch home towards Dowlaw Farm, this again was overgrown in someparts but not all the route. There was also a waymarker missleading at a section with a broken dry stane dyke wall. All in all I would recommend this walk and would do it again.I think it must be up to the farmers to upkeep these sections of very difficult grass paths.
