Good to hear Mary is recovering well I totally agree, some women you just can't keep down.
I have never had a close encounter with the mountain rescue (lucky so far) but having heard/read some of the rescue stories I can't imagine not saying a simple thank you to those guys. They do a fantastic job.

PS. The shonky stile should be fixed. I agree it's a potential leg breaker. We did Ben Tee in winter and you should see us getting over the stile when it was covered in ice

It's ironic that minutes earlier she safely negotiated the perilous stile then got a horrible injury slipping on mud.

Helpfully it was on a hill with phone reception too - a different matter if there was no reception in the area.
Not the sort of injury you'd want if on your own and out of phone contact

Mary has registered with some scheme whereby you're guaranteed to get through - but we didn't need to use it as had a signal anyway.

And yes, the MR folk are absolutely amazing. One of my friends is both a firefighter and a MR guy in the Ochils and such altruism must be celebrated.

Totally agree. They do a great job in all weathers - not always as genial as the day Mary needed them.

The path leads to a stile which is on its last legs in terms of helping anyone over the fence and is in potential danger of injuring someone unless it's fixed.

So we are all agreed that the stile needs fixed. Any volunteers to carry a hand-drill, screws and a couple of wooden battens up the hill, or does everyone think it should be fixed by someone else?

You're right, one of us should do it. A hand-drill and screws should be enough as there are loose wooden battens that could be reused. My better half would do a great job but the challenge would be getting him up there.
