This is the mountain you must climb...one of the signs of Highland...symbol of the beautiful area...target of walkers, climbers or atleast tourists cameras from road A82
the diamond !
Going around many times and stopping to make pics with Stob Dearg in the background, thinking about this mountain and planning a trip there when the right day with good weather forecast come...looking forward to do it !
It was also my promise to my niece Monika - get her there one sunny day as she dreamed about this mountain and she really wanted to climb there...
Well, the day finally came !
Weather forecast sounded great, promissing good visibility and we started our journey from home unpatiently very early morning ( like usual )
- Buachaille Etive Mor from distance
- happy Monika posing before her favorite Stob Dearg
- we started from the car park, very looking forward to see all views from top as the sky looks clear
- getting closer
- Path around the Hut...Monika posing again
- Started the ascent, looking to Glencoe
- Lookind ahead - up...this is the way
- Almost on the top junction, looking back down to the car park on A82...Ben Nevis in the background ( on the left ), Black Water Resorvoir on the right...
- on the junction, we turned left to get the summit of Stob Dearg first, then back here and continue the path to Stob na Broige via the nice long ridge
- Unfortunatelly the summit was in clouds in the time...no views !
- disappointed, not so much surprised as it happens sometime - often..., but keep smiling and hoping !
We spent 45 mins, waiting on the summit of Stob Dearg in hope to better visibility, but nothing changed and we decided to continue our walk...
- Walking the ridge to Stob na Broige, visibility much better now: Stob Raineach - Buachaille Etive Beag oposite
- Looking back to Stob Dearg
- ...and looking ahead to Stob na Broige in the very end
- Stob na Broige summit
- ...and south-west view from the summit - Loch Etive distanced
- Started the walk back - Buachaille Etive Mor in all the beauty
- Stob Dubh ( Buachaille Etive Beag ) oposite, Stob Coire Sgreamhach, Bidean nam Bian and Stob Coire nan Lochan behind...Beinn a'Bheithir in the background on the left
- Panoramic view: Buachaille Etive Beag & Buachaille Etive Mor
- We used the shortcut path down to the valley
- descending around the waterfall
- almost in the bottom
- Monika enjoying - overcoming the river
- Back near the car park - looking to Glencoe, Stob Raineach ( Buachaille Etive Beag )
