Arrived at Linn of Dee car park Friday night in the dark (around 10.30pm),
Pitched tent in carpark. Woke up Saturday mornin had cooked breakfast and hot drinks packed up gear and headed off just after 7.30 am
. Arrived at Bob Scotts Memorial hut around 9.30 am. We were not in any hurry as enjoying the views as last time we were up this way (Feb 2010 to Glen Derry)it was covered in snow and so different. We downed our gear at BSMH and had drinks and photo/video taking session. The Cairngorm mountain rescue guys were in there hut near Derry Lodge
so we stopped for a few minutes to take pics and headed off. The weather was good walking weather
no snow on ground but on the mountains all around which was clearing
except for Luibeg Bridge where there was a wall of snow
. A few hours walking and admiring the views then we got our first proper look at Bod an Deamhain
and the rest of the area
. We arrived at Corrour Bothy
and dumped gear, had a break, food and drinks and then headed off up to The Devils Point. It was an easy ascend up as weather was fantastic but we went up its grassy slope rather than the track(to save us crossing snow bridge over burn further up)
. When we go to the top there was a nice snow cornice(which we did'nt stand on), a little walk then the summit point
. We desended down of it and pitched tent, had food then rest. On Sunday it was raining/snowing around 7am so we just went back to sleep, woke up around 11(weather fantastic now) had tea, food, packed gear took this pics of someones trail up Ben Macdui
and headed home. A perfect weekend for us after failing the last two attempts to acsend Munros due to adverse weather conditions and our 1st Munro of 2010.
