With the weather once again looking good for the weekend thought i would take Jack & Anna out into the hills. Having done this before i knew it was doable for them, with encouragement & chocolate! This combined with the fact that i did it in the mist & rain made it seem the perfect choice. After the initial shock of being woken at 06:30 they both seemed up for it, so a easy drive up to glen coe with great views all the way.
Set of from the car park at 09:30 & took the now completed renovated path so no hint of boggyness anymore.
- On our way to Maim Buidhe with Stob Dubh peeking out
Good views all the way up to the Maim Buidhe bealach.
- A wee rest with Anonach Eagach behind
From the bealach we headed for Stob Dubh first with now great views all around. Anna decided she did not want to walk both hills but lots of people we met gave her encouragement so she decided she would go half way up & I would wait with her whilst Jack went to the summit cairn.
- Approaching Stob Dubh
- Bidean Masive
Reached the summit of Stob Dubh & then went to the cairn at the far end of the ridge to take in the views & have a fuel stop.
- Last Cairn on Stob Dubh with Ben Strav & Loch Etive
- Sandwiches & Etive Mor
Then off back to the bealach meeting a party coming the other way, with a 71 year old gent who was doing his last two munros. So we had the young & old chat & on we continued. Stopped at the bealach for lunch before heading half way up Stob Coire Raineach. At the said halfway point i used my altimeter to show Anna that we only had 60 meters to go & with a few jelly babies of we went.
- Summit of Stob Coire Raineach with Ben Nevis as a backdrop
- Stob Coire Raineach with Stob Dubh
- Munro No 5 for Jack & No 3 for Anna
Had to watch our step coming back down as the path is badly eroded & easy to loose ones footing. Once at he bealach we had a wee break talking to a couple with a puppy called hamish & then a gentle walk back down to the car park at 15:00.
I realy like this walk & if you get the weather it's fantastic!
