After the crazy bustle of Scafell Pike on Easter weekend, I fancied something quieter. The weather was stunning and I jumped on the bike and cycled the two miles from my holiday cottage to Ennerdale Water, where I locked my bike to a fence (not something I ever worry about at home in Orkney) and set off along the shore. It was a very enjoyable morning, with excellent views and nobody else in sight until I was near the summit.
