A warm Octobers day.

Days like this are rare in Scotland so I had to take advantage of the high pressure and good weather that came with it. Arriving about 1145 I parked on the verge, there was space for around 10 cars or so. I headed along the track with Bella the labrador. A very good wide path and a clear sky made navigating very easy. The path is easy going and it steepens and becomes more rocky towards the top. I caught up on a few people here who were taking in the best views I have seen in Scottish hills to date. I finally reached the top at 1305 and looked over to the next challenge, Stuc a Chroin. A steep path led down to the bealach before a path wound its way up to the boulder field.

Looking for the start of the scramble I kept following a path that took me to the left of the prow and then steeply zigzags up rock and grass which requires good foot placement but nothing that should put anybody off. Bella made short work of it and before long we were on the summit path.

The extra hour of work is worth it to have an empty summit and views that will rival any place in the country.

I headed back down, this time taking the scree slop on the west side, marked by a cairn. This led to a boggy path which contoured all the way around to the Ben Vorlich path. Follow this back to the car and get into some shade to check the pictures I had taken. An amazing day and two very good hills that I will be coming back to.
