The Wrong Way the Right Way

This was going to be a bit of a bonus hill really, after a long hard yet very rewarding day yesterday and with all things considered we were both wanting to prolong the hill walking experience a little longer and with us based at the excellent Pine Trees campsite and having already been to very fine Real Food Cafe' for our breakfast, we thought of this little Graham a few hundred yards from the campsite, starting at Dalrigh, unfortunately neither of us had done much homework on this hill. Earlier in the year I was hoping to do it along with the Corbett Beinn Chuirn but because of horrible weather conditions had decided to call it a day after the Corbett.

The colours on the trees were turning.

No soon had we crossed over the West Highland Way path and over a cattle grid we came face to face with the herd

After about 3k along the track we came across a field with a gate access in a deer fence on our right which when we looked up in the direction of the hill we were climbing had what appeared a firebreak through the forestry to the hillside. After negotiating some quite messy and boggy conditions in the field we headed towards and climbed a low fence

The firebreak? DO NOT GO THIS WAY, you have been warned!

That's more like it, plenty of this stuff in all directions

Whew got out at last, no need to call the emergency services.

After coming out of the forestry we turned left and gained height keeping to the high side of the clearing

Now on the open hillside

Looking back to the glen track you can clearly see another grassy area on the right hand side of the field between two sets of trees, this was to be our way off the hill

Looking back towards the forestry, only one fallen tree and not even blocking our pathway, fabulous!

After climbing the low fence ie step over we followed the more or less dry burn bed through the field

After climbing a deer fence on the far side of the field we carried on to the glen track. There is a large stone on the other side of the track where the burn reaches a drainage ditch. This is the way to climb this hill.

A few of this did this at last years WH meet in Tyndrum and we headed up behind the hostel and followed the old mine up and then came back the same way you went up and down

I like the look of that one. I've now got it bookmarked for a winter climb. Although I see there is a forestry track from Tyndruym train station that joins your route which might suit me. Starting and finishing a winter walk from a heated establishment with hot coffee sounds appealing

I now see the track and path from the Lower Tyndrum Station over Sron nan 590m then over Drochaid an Droma, should have done my homework When I was on the summit I saw the narrow Drochaid an Droma and thought interesting

Backpacker has also made me aware of another track from the railway station which goes North ontop a path past a lead mine up overSron nan 590m then over Drochaid an Droma so that might be another route to consider. I did see the track you were talking about coming in from the trees on my right when we were on the main glen track.
