the last day of our trip and the weather was still amazing. But we were quite tired after the last few days to we kept it short, just up to Helvellyn from Glenridding via Birkhouse Moor, then back again via Catstyecam so we could take in a couple of ridges.

The dog managed the ridges fine until the end of Striding edge where the drop is quite shear and he had to be lowered down.

Nice one - you certainly timed your trip to perfection weather-wise. The circuit of the Helvellyn edges is an absolute classic. I make a point of doing this at least once every winter when conditions are good. Great pics of the developing inversion; it's a pity you didn't take or post more :)

Some lovely shots there Greenman, the mist rising up the dales is a stunner, it must have been worth the hike just for that

Yes, I didn't mind the drop, but the dog who is getting on a little now, had to be lowered down by his harness......dignity left on the top
