We got the train up from Glasgow My plan was to climb Beinn Na lap on my birthday and stay the night in the Loch Ossian hostel, then return home on Saturday.
- Corrour train station
- a bit damp
- Loch Ossian and beinn Na Lap
The weather forcast was horrendous, so I was happy to do as much or as little as we could.
- MWIS forecast
After dropping our bags off at the hostel, we started off accross the boggy ground. There was sleet coming in, but it wasn't that cold. We saw a lone stag on both the way up and down.
- stag
As we got higher, the sleet turned to snow and was settling on the ground, but it wasn't very thick. The clouds also started to clear and the views improved.
- Leum Uilleim
- Loch Ossian
We easily got to the summit cairn, but didn't hang about too long, as we were aware we should get lower in case the weather came in again.
- Summit of Beinn Na Lap
The clouds cleared further and had some blue sky and parts. When we got off the ridge onto lower ground, we sat down for the first time (we'd eaten something quickly while standing, on the way up) and took in the views.
- sun breaking through and Leum Uilleim
We got back to the hostel some after 4pm before it got dark and just before it started snowing again.
- Loch Ossian at twilight
- Saturday morning leaving Loch Ossian and the Youth hostel
