When planning the Cona Ghleann horseshoe walk, be aware that OS 1:50,000 maps don't show military sites. This apparently stems from government trying to prevent enemies gaining useful information for targets but apparently the Russians have better maps for such establishments than we have. However, the 1:25,000 map reveals the extent of the arms depot and encircling security fence!
A space can be found near the entrance road to Glen Douglas armament depot for one car though your presence will be observed by watchful security and number plate liable to be noted. Cross the bridge and follow fence round and up to the left then straight up steep grass slopes where higher up there are several obvious old landslips, over subsidiary top 701m SW to Doune Hill 734m 3km, 688m ascent, in 3 hours. Easy grass SSW to Beinn Lochain 698m thence W to bealach at head of Cona Ghleann and up to Cruach an t'Sidhean 684m 5km, 872m ascent, 4 hours.
Descent is down it's N ridge then from low point on ridge down into Cona Ghlean crossing a water intake dam, skirting along the side of Doune Hill above the security fence, avoiding the recent landslide into the fence, and back to car 9.5km (6 miles), 989m total ascent, 6.15 hours.
