Todays walk had to be a short one as I had to be home early as it was my birthday
so had to be back as we had a meal to go to and then a few beers to celebrate
so I was at the small parking area at 6.20and geared up and away at 6.30
The sky was broken cloud and it was -3 in the glen so it was nice to walk in
Height is gained surprisingly quick once over the style at the deer fence
- Looking up the Glen
- my walking partners
It was clear to see that there had been a fair bit of snow fallen over past couple of days
and this made this walk even more enjoyable
Meall Ghaordiadh doesn't get great reviews but on a day like today
it really was a pleasure being out
- Cam Chreag
- Meall Ghaordiadh rising ahead
- Meall ton Eich
There was very little wind so no need for a jacket at this point of the walk
the ground was also frozen so not one single boggy part to deal with
- Nice rolling snowy hills
- Low cloud moving in
Nearing the final pull up to the summit some low cloud started to move in
so when we did arrive at the summit there was no panorama view to be seen
after all the fine skies on the ascent this was the only let down
Still I got my jacket out and had a seat in the cairn ,with the lads
shared some fruit with them had some fluids a reflected on the events
ive had this year and being my birthday thought of those no longer here
to celebrate it with me
- Summit Posers lol they are getting the hang of it together now
After about 10 mins I about turned and headed back down the path we ascended
the lads were having great fun in the fresh snow
they were like a pair of spring lambs some of the snow was knee deep in places
getting to where the small cairn marks where you leave the track to ascend
I met 3 walkers just starting out
And by the time I got to the carparking area it was like Butlins at peak season
the hill was going to be busy now and some rain was starting to fall as soon as I got in the car
so all in all I had a fab day even if it was short
