Whinlatter RoundAn absolutely scorching day. Sunshine throughout, perfect for wandering the fells.
We parked at the Whinlatter Forest Car park near to Lorton and Darling How farm. Wandered past the farm itself and followed the forest track around the plantation. There is a small cairn leading you up to a path which runs alongside a ruined wall. We followed this up to the top of Brown How, and then Whinlatter Top.
From here we walked across to the gate leading into Thornthwaite Forest, and followed the paths leading to Ullister Hill. This then lead on to the summit of Lords Seat.
From here we walked across to Barf, took some photos of Keswick and Bassenthwaite Lake, and then walked back across to Lords Seat to carry on the trek.
We made our way across the fell side to the summit of Broom fell. Ensuring that we bagged the actual summit, as well as the cairn location. Then we walked across to the Widow Hause plantation, skirting the edge of this and on up to Greystones and Kirk Fell summit.
From here it was an extremely steep descent to beck near Scawgill Bridge, and followed the path back up to the car.
As I mentioned it was an absolutely scorching day, with temperatures hitting around 25C. Very pleased that there was a gentle wind all the way through keeping us cool.
