Best sounding Munro Name

I was fortunate to get a splendid weather day on the Ring of Steall on saturday and was able to take in the magnificent Sgurr a'Mhaim. For me this is the best sounding munro name. I would be interested to learn what others people's favourites are.

I've not climbed it, but I've always liked the sound of Carn an Righ.

I'm not sure if knowing the meaning influences that or not though.

Liathach is the best sounding for me.......plenty memories of driving by it with the Old Man when I was a kid and I've always felt it had a name that truly reflected its character and slightly scary appearance.

But then a gain Slioch is a name that will forever make me smile. Another Old Man memory, with his exagerated Sliocccchhhhh

Good call. For me it's between Sgurr a'Mhaim and An Riabhachan

I like Aonach Eagach, seems to suit it even before you know the translation (Notched Ridge or similar). OK, its not the Munro name as such.

Lurg Mhor sounds sinister. Stuc a'Chroin is quite good.

I also like the Cuillin names, modern names in the old language if you like, well those named by the Victorian pioneers (after each other!) etc. Sgurr Mhic Choinnich is a favourite.

Am Basteir's sort of cool sounding too, and again the translation's better still (The Executioner).

Of course, Inaccessible Pinnacle is a great name for a summit, but I bet it would sound even better in Gaelic (can't find a translation website which will do it though. Any speakers who'd have a bash?)

Always had a childish giggle at Sgurr a Chaorachain in Applecross, ever since I was on a school trip and someone realised that if you transposed the 'rr' with the 'u' in sgurr, then hardened the second ch into a 'g' you got a name that had immense prurient appeal to teenagers.

But seriously? Think I'd go with An Sgarsoch, or Braeriach.

Not sure about the best sounding, but what about the most quirky? In this department, surely Beinn Sgulaird has no rival? - the pronunciation is about as far from what a native English speaker would expect as it's possible to get - and it's a delicious sound to boot

My favourite is Bidean Druim nam Ramh - sounds like an Egyptian god or something (I know it isn't a munro btw, but it is the only hill name that has really spoken to me somehow)

Edit - I suppose I should mention Sgurr nan Gillean and Sgurr Fionnadh (not the Fiona that has been horribly changed on modern maps) that my wonderful sisters are named after - must be beautiful names for such beautiful people
