Day 1
Today was a first walk out over in the lakes and was looking to attempt the pasture beck round,
Started at hartsop and went through the gate and immaediatley turned right over the beck following the finger post direction.
From here you just followed the wall all the way up to the ridge line then followed the ridge line all the way to the summit, no a difficult summit to navigate, however it is a steep slog to reach this summit!!! Our next objective was Caudale moor, but withit summit and a deeper covering of snow than the hill I was on, I returned the same way and wandered along to Hayeswater reservoir, was a bit of a slog as the path was churned up by heavy machinery as there building works going on there.
Day 2
Today, was a wander around Braithwaite, our plan was dependent on the covering of snow on Outerside, (Last year this hill was covered so could not climb it) As it happens it had a sprinkling over it so we took this little circuit on.
We park up by the school and walkedover the bridge following the sign to Newlands and then up to the covered over reservoir. We stayed on this path and veered slightly right to climb Stile end, we continued onto Outerside, we reached this top and the wind was pretty strong and bitter, so took summit photo's and got off quickly, once off the summit, the wind was not noticeable and remained a pleasant winter stroll in lovely sunshine. we followed the path down and around the hill to the junction with Barrow, and we climbed up to that summit and this time there was no real wind to talk of.
Now we descended back to the car.
A beautiful winter's stroll - I was able to see what I would be walking in the summer!!!! - can't wait!!
