Photo Competition Comments

To all those interested in the photo competition.
Due to sudden circumstances (changes in my personal), as of late September I will be reverting to my natural state of unemployment and living in a van. For me this is utterly wonderful as it means I'll mostly be in the Highlands. For the photo comp it means that my ability to stick to the dates and times of starting, voting, and resulting will be erratic. I may be several days late on any and all of those, but my ability to create the winners tables etc etc will not be affected,
I'm happy to continue running the photo comp. But if anybody feels strongly that dates and times are more important and wishes to volunteer to take over I will graciously step down.

Vote of confidence in you continuing with relaxed or dead deadlines, whatever.

A relaxed timetable sounds good to me, and much appreciate all the work you put into the competition. In a rather belated response to your previous conundrum as to what to do in the case of tied vote, I would be happy for you to have the Chair's casting vote. Hope you have great time travelling and walking, climbing.

Thanks folks, I will continue on.
In regard to tied winners, the idea of a casting vote is a good one but I'm not sure I'm comfortable wielding that amount of power
In the extremely unlikely event that we ever get to rule 4, I will award joint winners.
So I'll go and start this months' competition but if I suspect tactical voting to get us to rule 4 I'll sulk

Just noticed my spelling mistake of Glen Sligachan on my photo entry.

Oops, I've just noticed that I've made an @rse of my upload settings from FlickR, uploaded at some ridiculous setting instead of "large". I take it I'm OK to change that seeing as I'm not changing the actual photo itself?
Cheers.

Weird, it looks fine on my home PC but a total disaster on my work PC

I didn't notice anything untoward about your entry jupe, just checked and it still looks fine. But yeah as a general rule I see nothing wrong in uploading a better quality version so long as it's the same photo and voting has not started.

Yeah, looks nice and sharp to me. Has your work PC got scaling on to make the text more legible..? Makes a right mess of pictures when the scaling isn't set properly.

I work for my local authority and our PCs are on an ancient version of Internet Explorer. I should be thankful to have a colour screen

I was going to message you about that. For me it's appearing very noisy on the forum, but fine on Flickr.

Damn, any idea how you edit a post? There doesn't seem to be an option
