Glorious place, glorious day, and some pictures that really capture that glory.

The pic of Sgulaird from Trileachan really reveals those brutally endless ups and downs on the way to the summit via the East ridge (I was up in this neck of the woods towards the end of the last white season, and remember it well!).

That's just fabulous! Wonderful photos of what looks like an amazing hill

It's a shame it gets so cold up top though, I've started carrying my bivvy bag and crawling inside that so I can enjoy the views for longer...sure I look like a total numpty jumping around in what's effectively a red bag but keeps me a bit warmer

How did you get the deer to stay so still?! Living things always run away from me...

Glad you made that effort through the soft snow and got those great pictures. Great views of Cruachan with the inversion and also the later ones looking into Glen Etive. Inspiring!

Superb, a real feast for the eyes. So many shapely and impressive peaks well photographed there - Stob dubh and Stob na Broige are especially striking viewed from Glen Etive aren't they? Great shot of Ben Lui too (it certainly does look like Ben Lui!).

Really looking forward to this after your report and lovely pictures. Perhaps when the snow is back. We nearly went up it Sunday but went up Ben Starav instead.

Wow, now there's some mindblowing pictures. Real real nice.

And Jaxter: although simple it's a great idea I'd never think of myself: taking the bivy bag up the summit.
I bet my lady loves the idea.

Looks like you had a great day out there RH. Some great mountain and wildlife shots. The deer peg it when they see me. Etive is special. Trilleachen is definitely on my radar. Been thinking about that slab route.

Same with me - they usually disappear quickly but in Glen Etive they're quite happy to hang around

Would certainly agree with you

I carry one of these which weighs around 100gr but don't often open it out - also have a two man bothy bag but it's a wee bit of a hassle with only one of me

The deer in Glen Etive are unusually calm around people I find - matched only by the ones around the head of Loch Arkaig in my experience. I was also given a tip by a fellow photographer - which I've tested and it works - to tempt them with chocolate Digestives. I usually keep a packet handy these days, trouble is I'm often too busy eating digestives to photograph the deer :D But I do recommend a drive down Glen Etive armed with biscuits. Last time I just forgot the camera and had an amazing half hour feeding them from my hand to a small herd by the road, probably one of my best experiences of this year.
