Twin Kintail Corbetts but not the ones you may think.

With the underfoot conditions making the two Corbetts beside Beinn Sgritheall a bit of a no no with very steep grassy descents it was decided to head for the easier and much closer Sgurr Mhic Bharraich.
From Ratagan its only two miles to the start the large parking area beside the Glenshiel campsite. Walk through campsite and head for the toilt block and at the rear climb the stile to follow the Allt Undalain Southwards first on the left then on the right side as you go up the glen

Following the track which had been made much larger at this point from the last time I climbed up the hill during the Dirty Thirty an annual walk /run organised by the Glenelg Community for funds for local groups, highly recommended by the way a very well organised event. At this point you are on the left of the burn

Up this track and turn uphill to the right where it becomes narrower and much steeper

Now headin West and towards Loch Coire nan Crogachan. Before the final climb keep an eye out for a couple of cairns on your right which suggests you come off the path to head North on the East side of the loch and towards the East shoulder of the Corbett missing the crags

Looking back along the track now not far from the campsite and cars. Now I know what Mountain Thyme was thinking it was 1.45 pm 'She asked me have you a head torch' Yep she had another Corbett in mind and I knew the one just a five minute drive around the end of Loch Duich. Boots already on and raring to go and off by 2.00 pm, let's just go for it, bring it on

I'm locking the car and she's off (Parked at the cemetery car park directly opposite the small gate)

Further up at this section nice and grassy with a good incline nothing steep on this hill as I remembered from the last time I'd climbed it

Through the gate and climing fast up some zig zags , furter on I checked my watch and on the hour we had climbed 560 m no bad going for the second hill of the day. During the walk I had noticed quite a few fresh footprints so I was expecting to see some maybe well known faces later on and right enough when walking along the long summit ridge met the Meet Organisers Darren and Anne and others

Mountain Thyme delighted with her bag of two Corbetts for the day. The descent well a bit of a run/jog/fast walk to the bottom to finish before 5.00 pm no nead for the torches then. Head straight to the Kintail Lodge Hotel for drink and a meal then the hostel for a hot shower and typical WH festivities.

I'm glad you managed the second one before the evening do

We will definitely repeat both these Corbetts in full winter conditions - just to see the views properly!
