But not today!!
Arrived at layby 79 and headed off about 9, down the track under the railway and up the track to the 1st bridge.
Didn't look too much snow from the A9 but once on the hills, the deeper and more compact it got.
Headed up to the summit and finally located the trig point. Total whiteout - almost. Mist was down and snow flurries added to it.
Actually thought I'd get a view over to the loch and surrounding hills but nothing today.
Didn't stay long and headed off to beinn udlamain.
If the snow is lying and there's clag all around don't rely on fenceposts to aid you.
Reached the big shelter/ cairn and then headed off again, after donning the wind/water proof bottoms. Bonus
Quite a steep descent once you start heading south east towards the track.
No real paths to follow down as there was about a foot and a half snow all the way down -a sledge would have helped!.
Back on the track and bumped into a few lads from Leeds who were up for the weekend. Enjoy your last night in aviemore lads.
One thing for anyone really - where it says "in winter conditions or foul weather, navigation could be difficult "- believe it.
Cap doffed to Sgairneach Mhor and Beinn Udlamain
Cheers
