Appears a clue may be needed. :(

CG may more commonly be DT.

A bit of a teaser eh?

You can get good views of the much more vaunted ED from a bit further up the hill.

Almost all correct. To illuminate:

CG is Casteil Grugaig aka Dun Totaig (DT) aka Totaig Broch,
G is Grugaig who lived there and was the witch mother of the giants Telve and Trodder who built their own brochs in Glenelg (just over the hill) , Dun Telve and Dun Troddan.

ED, which probably gave it away (I'm too kind), is Eilean Donan which can be seen from near the broch.

Your go now.

Thanks Charles - yes, ED was a big help. The problem with guessing it is then having to think up something

TC was home to D who probably wasn't whiter than white

Part correct - the other part is potentially correct but not the answer for which I'm looking - cheers :)

Got it wrong, Tantallon was the seat of the Red Douglases, so Red not Black. But Tantallon may be wrong anyway.

Threave Castle and therefore revert to Black Douglas, some straw-clutching here. :(

Correct  According to VisitScotland, "Now under the care of Historic Scotland, this massive tower house was built in the late 14th century by Archibald the Grim, Lord of Galloway. It became the stronghold of the Black Douglases and still today, round its base you can see the artillery fortification, an innovative defence years ahead of its time, built before 1455 when James II besieged the castle."

Over to you - cheers :)

A rare man Black Douglas, you wouldn't want to upset him.

CL and CR make up GCC.

A bit of help. Those of a pedantic disposition, and who am I to argue with them, would require the placing of an"o" between the final C and C.

Anything to do with Gordon Campbell of Croy, one time secretary of state for Scotland (Ted Heath's government)?
