What a perfect day to be playing in the mountains. The forecast hinted at the potential of a view, but we could not have imagined just how spectacular the day was to be.
We parked up at the car park on the A85 a few km's from Dalmally.
We took the advice to bring trainers for the river crossing ... thankfully, and with water levels fairly low we negotiated the river and under the railway line.
The initial path took us through the forest and we kept our eyes open for the fork in the path which took us down to the stream descending from Fionn Choirein, and the stepping stones and blue rope to aid the crossing. Do be careful .... obvious statement .... its slippy!
Its fairly easy to see the route through the forest given that a large number of trees have been felled. It is boggy in places and we took our time to negotiate our way through. Reaching the bridge and cairn its straight up Fionn Choirein to the exit of the forest by a gate.
Still in cloud, we took a compass reading and set off in the direction of the beach between the two Munro's and as we reached 100m from the top we could see sunlight bursting through the cloud ... could the inversion be on?????
Honestly, we couldn't believe our eyes!
I shall let the photos tell the story from here ....
