Creag Uchdag

[The Rodmiester]

With Callander as a base the nearest Corbett I had not done was the one on the way home near Comrie, Creag Uchdag from Glen Lednock, I'd been up the glen many times before to climb Ben Chonzie but never passed the Lednock Dam.
A fine day it turned out to be with little wind and dry and clear overhead with little in the way of snow cover on the ground.

Just leaving the large car parking area with an early start but already a few cars parked within, looking ahead towards the wee road bridge over the river

A sign on the road telling you that no cars allowed beyond this point, a couple of cottages on the right with also a driveway to the main estate building also on the right

First sight of the Lednock Dam, and feeding time for the sheep

Heading up the track which forks before the trees we head up the hillside on this side of the tree plantation and to the East of the Allt Mor

At about 500 m we take an ATV track off to the left

A small burn to cross and the ATV track continues towards the 809 m summit Meall Dubh Mor but by passes on the South side

The main river crossing over the Allt Mor and even with the snow melt no problem

First sighting of Creag Uchdag

An area of peat hags but nothing that cannot be avoided otherwise pretty dry underfoot

We skirtted this side of the hags then aimed for a distinct grassy ridge up to the summit

Looking back the way we had come with fine views all around

Dry grass to follow uneven in places but no problens

Final climb with a feint path up the shoulder

Still to do this one - looks like a nice viewpoint. But we will be going from Ardeonaig, a shorter drive for us.

I don't know what is happening to weather? We were on some Munros of Ben Alder group on Saturday and couldn't see the nearby tops for the haze!!

Nice hill and a feint track most of the way, and pretty dry underfoot. A right hit and miss Winter, hope the WH meet provides us with good clear weather
