After Ben Lomond. Ben Dorain, Ben an Dothaidh we planned to do Stob Coire Raineach and Stob Dubh, as they looked the easiest in this area and would be good to make the combination with walking the West Highland Way, day after day.
We stayed at the Glencoe Independent Hostel, a great place to stay. First we had to do some shopping in the village of Glencoe (3 miles by foot).
Then, from our hostel we walked 1½ mile to the A82-junction to catch a ride. An older man picked us up and he brought us to the car park near the Allt Lairig Eilde.
Blue sky and nice white clouds, looking very good. And feeling warm already.
We started at the car park at 11:55 AM.
Soon we reached the split in the paths and went left. We followed the ascending path which became steeper and steeper. We walked on a moderate pace and reached the bealach (after just 1 break) in 1 hour 10 minutes.
The bealach between the two summits is a nice play to stay. Spectacular views. Even nice (pink) rock to sit on and take an longer break.
Because a group of 3 went up to Stob Coire Raineach we decided to go to Stob Dubh first.
The first summit we came to, gave us a view on the next section of the ridge, but it looked more worst than it was. On the summit of Stob Dobh only other one person there, we had a terrific view towards Loch Etive, Bidean nam Bian and Buchaille Etive Mor.
After leaving the top of Stob Dubh we were back at the bealach at 14:35 PM, so 1hour 30 minutes time. After a short break we set off to Stob Coire Raineach. A pretty good path, a bit rocky but easy going and we reached this summit in just 25 minutes. Great views to Blackwater Reservoir and of course Ben Nevis.
We arrived at the car park at 16:50 PM.
Total time: 4 hours 55 minutes including breaks.
