Mount Keen

Ok, so the forecast for Saturday is pretty much rain all over Scotland. An ideal time to walk Mount Keen. I am not being disrespectful to this lovely hill but on a sunny day I would much rather head of to a round of Munro's somewhere instead. On its own its a lovely walk through a beautiful glen and would be a great walk for a family picnic.

There is an incredibly well laid path all the way to the summit and it would be very difficult to lose your way even in thick fog, mind you always be prepared with that in mind.

We left the car park at Invermark and walked the 4km quickly along the glen floor adjacent to the river to the lovely Queens Well. Just past the Queens well we took the right fork in the path taking us past the nice cottage and into the hillside. Approximately 2km later we arrived at a large cairn indicating the turn right (North North East for the final 2km to the summmit.

We were in the clag, it had been drizzling with rain most of the way so we didnt hang about and retraced our steps. We jogged most of the way bag to the car park in heavier rain.

A lovely area I have to admit and it would look stunning on a sunny day.
